Long-Term
Commitment
Many of our contributors are realizing that they can make
a wonderful difference for people in need while also receiving
tax and other financial benefits. Talk with your legal and/or
tax advisor about including Second Harvest Food Bank of Central
Florida as a beneficiary in your will, life insurance policy,
or trust.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts usually involve donors' consideration of a
number of interrelated factors, including the purpose of their
gift, the timing of the gift, what assets are to be used in
funding the gift, its effect on income-tax and estate-tax,
and finally, the impact of the gift on family members and
friends. Planned gifts are best made with the advice of one's
professional financial/tax advisor, attorney, accountant,
banker, financial planner, or insurance specialist.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida's staff and volunteers
can help our donors choose the approach that works best for
them. In this way, we seek to serve as an informational resource
in helping you meet your philanthropic goals. The information
we provide, however, is for illustrative purposes only and
should not be considered investment, legal, accounting, tax
or other professional advice. We're pleased to work with you
in identifying various gift options and helping you to consider
ways to have the most significant impact on the lives of hungry
Central Floridians.
The Cornucopia League
The Cornucopia league honors a very special group of people
who have made a planned gift arrangement in their will, life
insurance policy, or other deferred gift to benefit the Food
Bank.
The identifying symbol of this group pays homage to the blessed
abundance of food resources in our community, while recognizing
that many people continue to be challenged in their ability
to share in these resources. The League is made up of people
who understand and care deeply about making needed food resources
available to families and individuals who are struggling.
To become a Cornucopia League member, one need simply inform
the Second Harvest Food Bank that a planned gift has been
made to further the alleviation of hunger in Central Florida.
Informing us of your plans is a good idea for several reasons.
First, it ensures that we understand your wishes, so that
your gift is used exactly as intended. Second, it allows Second
Harvest Food Bank to plan for the future with knowledge of
your intended support as a consideration. Finally, it allows
us to demonstrate our appreciation by including you (with
permission) in our publications and special recognition events
for Cornucopia League members.
