September 7: Five Guys Burgers and Fries
On the 1st Monday of Each Month at Five Guys® Burgers and Fries* 10% of sales from 5-9 p.m. go towards Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Five Guys of Central Florida year to date contribution: $3,021. Help them reach their $10,000 goal by visiting Five Guys on September 7. Participating locations ONLY.
September 8: California Pizza Kitchen
Join us for an event where giving won't just feel good, it'll taste good. California Pizza Kitchen is having a fundraiser! Bring in this flyer on any Tuesday in September and 20% of your check will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Dates: September 1st, 8th, 22nd & 29th. California Pizza Kitchen: Waterford Lakes, Florida Mall, Millenia Mall.
September 9: Vote Online for Portraits of Hunger
We received over 50 photos from photographers in Central Florida for our Portraits of Hunger Contest. Take a moment to go through our top 12 photos and help us choose our top 3 winners by voting for your favorite. Vote as many times as you want! The winner will be announced on September 30 at Enzian's Eden Bar. Chosen photos will be displayed at the event and some will be picked to be made into larger than life size banners to be hung at the food bank’s warehouses. Winning photo will be put in our Gatherer Newsletter - 10,000 distributed.
September 10: Become an Advocate
Advocacy is critical to fighting hunger, and becoming a hunger advocate offers many ways to become active not only in important public policy issues of the day, but also within your community. We recently launched our Hunger Action Center. We encourage you to sign up and join us as a hunger advocate.
September 11: National Day of Service
In April, President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act which, for the first time, officially recognizes September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. This year, on September 11, the President, the Corporation for National and Community Service, MyGoodDeed and the 9/11 families will ask all Americans to remember that Tuesday eight years ago and recommit to service in their communities throughout the year.
