Hi-Five Kids Pack Program

Our Hi-Five Kids Pack Program
provides nutritious meals to needy children who do not have access to school cafeterias during the weekend.
We started the Hi-Five program when educators came to us looking for a solution to providing weekend food for the neediest of their students. Students were coming to school sick and unable to learn because they had not eaten since their school lunch the previous Friday.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida partners with fifteen public elementary schools that have a significant percentage of student participation in free and reduced lunch programs.
Currently, the fifteen local elementary schools each receive as many as 3,000 food packs per year.
The food packs contain a variety of kid-friendly items such as cereal, shelf-stable milk and juice, fruit cups and more. These food packs of shelf stable food are all assembled at our Food Rescue Center by our dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for opportunities to expand this program to more children, in more schools.
