Power Purchasing

The Power Purchasing Center at Second Harvest Food Bank can be characterized as discount buying for community partners.   This aspect of our organization provides nonprofit feeding programs with access to needed food and other items that are rarely donated by our corporate food donors.    The Food Bank purchases these items in volume, and passes the savings along to our partners.    Having these products available as an option helps to save our agencies a little more money, while eliminating their need to leave our facility and go to wholesale clubs or other sources to get the items they need.

A great benefit for our partners is that (unlike our donated products food), they are not restricted to using the products accessed through the Power Purchase Center for their charitable feeding outreach only.   For example, if an agency needs  paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, copy paper, foam plates, cups, plastic spoons, forks, knives, etc,  for the maintenance of their operation, these items are available to them at the same time they are picking up their donated items.
