Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s Strategic Plan is created through a joint effort of the Board of Directors and senior management and is developed over a period of months in advance of the inception date for the new plan. It is created with the goal of expanding our mission to fight hunger through increasing food resources available for the community.
The Strategic Plan is measured by the progress made in accomplishing the established goals. The progress is discussed at each of the monthly Board of Directors meetings.
STRATEGIC PLAN OVERVIEW 2008-2011 Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is in the third year of its current strategic plan, which continues through June 30, 2011.
GOAL 1: Build organizational capacity to support the strategic plan and future growth
Strategy: Increase funds secured to support our mission by 5% to 10% annually
Measurement:
Fiscal year ending 6-30-09 – Increased funds secured by 11.5%% Fiscal year ending 6-30-10 – audit in process
GOAL 2: Provide availability and access to food and other grocery products in order to close the gap between need for food and availability.
Strategy: Increase the amount of food distributed by a minimum of 5% annually
Measurement:
Fiscal year ending 6-30-09 – Increased distribution by 14% Fiscal year ending 6-30-10 – Increased distribution by 25%
GOAL 3: Promote and support the development of our partner agencies’ abilities to fulfill their missions.
Strategy: Increase the number of training sessions offered to our partner agencies through the Food Bank’s Agency Development, Education and Partnership Training (ADEPT)
Measurement:
Fiscal year ending 6-30-09 – provided 31 training sessions for our partner agencies Fiscal year ending 6-30-10 – provided 55 training sessions for our partner agencies
GOAL 4: Mobilize leaders and communities by bringing visibility to the invisible problem of hunger and poverty.
Strategy: Hold a minimum of one community-wide outreach session annually focusing on the problem of hunger and poverty
