Volunteer
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida relies on more than 7,900 volunteers, whose hours total over 31,000, every year to fulfill our mission. Our various projects offer fun and unique ways for individuals and groups to contribute their time, talents and resources to connect with the community.
Food Sorters
Sort and box donated products in our warehouse (Food Rescue Center) located at 1918 W. Princeton Street, Orlando, 32804. Food Sorters are needed typically Tuesday – Saturday. Our Saturdays fill up very quickly. We usually work around two shifts: 9:00 a.m-12:00 pm and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
We also offer two evenings a month (usually the first and third Wednesday of the month-however these book up very quickly as well. Dates & times are subject to change so please call ahead and schedule your time with the Volunteer Services Manager, Mindy Ortiz - mortiz@foodbankcentralflorida.org.
This activity is an ideal service project for families, large groups, middle or high school age students and companies looking for team-building programs. Children must be at least 10 years old in order to participate.
Office Volunteers
Help our staff with various clerical duties, including making copies, stuffing envelopes, stamping envelopes and data entry. This volunteer opportunity takes place during regular business hours. This is a great contribution to the Food Bank for any individual.

Special Events
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has many special events throughout the year to raise funds and food, including Empty Bowls and Taste of the Nation. Volunteers can assist by registering guests, serving food or assisting chefs. National Letter Carrier's Food Drive (May) and Scouting for Food (November) are our largest food drives and many volunteers are needed to help sort and pack donated food at these drives.
